Is your cookware healthy?

E-mail Print PDF

frying panWe often spend lots of time thinking about the health benefits of what we are going to cook but how often do you think about what you are cooking with?

Non-stick pans are so handy to cook with, especially if you cook like me. No matter how badly you burn it to the pan, it just slides right off. But what is Teflon anyway? And is it really safe to cook with?

Don't shop hungry

shoppingThe battle to eat healthily is often won and lost at the shops. If you buy healthy stuff during your weekly shop, you are much more likely to be eating healthily throughout the week. lifting weigthsWhen it comes to health and wellness, resistance exercise is a funny one. They are often surprised when my answer invariably comes back as a yes. People tend to think that because I’m a wellness expert and columnist, I have all the answers and that I wouldn’t want to them to go and get a second opinion that may differ from mine.

Barefoot training

barefootWhenever I go for a personal training session at my gym, my trainer insists that I take my shoes off - and for good reason.

Not only does it protect his precious padded floors, but it provides benefits for me as well. You see, we didn't always wear padded shoes with NASA technology in the sole and dead flat bottoms, and walk around on perfectly smooth floors. In fact, modern shoes may be so ‘good' they are making your feet lazy, weak and prone to injury.
