I always find it strange that people will work so hard at their diet or so hard at their exercise regime and decide they need a reward - only to have that reward undo some (if not all) of the hard work they have just done. They say to themselves, ‘I have worked really hard, I deserve this special treat'. It is especially concerning when people start doing the same thing for their kids.

There is a lot of confusion nowadays about cardiovascular (endurance) exercise. Some people will say that it is the be-all and end-all, whilst others say that we don't even need to do it at all. And as is often the case, the truth is somewhere in the middle.
The humble seafood dinner has become a victim of the pollution of our environment. Not so long ago you could have happily recommended people eat a couple of serves of fish a week, content in the knowledge that it was great for them. After all, fish are a great source of essential fats, in particular Omega 3's which are great for your body in many ways. They are protective for your heart and nourishing for your brain. They are also a great source of protein to give you long-lasting energy and balance out our carbohydrate-laden diets.
Money is definitely one of the biggest stressors for many, many people. The biggest problem most people have in regards to their money is that they just bury their heads in the sand. It all just seems too hard, so they avoid stressing about their money problems by ignoring them completely. Unfortunately this never works. Because of the nature of money and expenses, you are forced to confront these fears every day whether you want to or not, and the more you try and ignore them the bigger the problem becomes.
It has been said that most people overestimate what they can do in a day and underestimate what they can do in a lifetime. I find this runs perfectly true for my experience in practice. So often people come in and tell me all of their big plans about how they are going to change their diet, exercise more, start thinking positively and give up smoking.... all this week! Whilst I am always supportive and encouraging I also try and help them make their goals more realistic and encourage them to make some longer term goals. On the other hand when it comes to really big long term goals and dreams, far too many people dismiss them as impossibilities because they can't see how they could ever get there.
