- 1. Water. Quite simply the best healthiest drink you will ever drink and it is very cheap. Though you may want to invest in a good filter, but it will pay for itself many times in the long run.
2. Kangaroo. One of the cheapest meats at the stores (though often expensive in restaurants). It is organic, free range, lean meat that is very healthy for you.
3. High protein. Eat nuts, meats and vegetables that are high in protein and you will find much less need to snack later on saving you money.
4. Take your lunch. Making your lunch at home is not only much cheaper but makes it much easier to control exactly what goes in your box and leaves you less open to temptation.
5. Don't shop on an empty stomach. Always eat before you go shopping. You will make better choices and save on your bill if you are not ravenous.
6. Go to the markets. We are very fortunate in Adelaide that we have the central markets. Full of fantastic healthy options and also the capacity to shop around for great deals.
7. Eat what's in season. The foods that are currently in season are usually much cheaper and may even be healthier for you.
8. Buy in bulk. Once again this is a good thing to do at the markets. Buy some fruits, vegetables, nuts and meats in bulk when they are on special and save big dollars. You can always freeze them if necessary.
9. Grow your own. It doesn't need to be that hard and you don't even need that much space. Start by growing your own healthy herbs.
10. Prepare your meals from scratch. Not always as easy as it sounds in our modern high paced society. If you can do it however you will not only save money, you will avoid all of the chemicals and preservatives in those processed packaged foods.
