Are You Addicted To Your Thoughts? |
|
Albert Einstein once said the most important question a human Every time you have a thought it requires a stimulus, either external or internal. This thought is then sent via nerves to a processing centre in the brain where it is interpreted. Messages are then sent via the nervous system to our body which produces a physical activity that is appropriate for that emotion or thought (physically, chemically and emotionally). If you maintain similar thoughts over time you continually fire the same pathways. Any pathway in your brain that is repeatedly fired becomes sensitized. This means it fires much quicker and hence it is easier to have these thoughts again in the future. Because these pathways are being continually fired we also become addicted to the chemicals produced in our brain. This means that not only are these thoughts more easily entertained, we also actively seek them to feed our addiction. We all know someone who is always positive, sees the positive in everything and is always looking to find and create more positive situations. And we all know the opposite. The good news is we can choose which thoughts we are addicted to. You can sensitize positive pathways by using positive self-talk, affirmations and meditation. If we entertain these thoughts and feelings our body will express itself consistently with those feelings and express health. Is the universe friendly?
