Wellness For Your Libido

Libido is an interesting topic for any health care practitioner. It is something that many, many people suffer from and it is also something that many people are reluctant to share. Good libido is a side effect of leading a happy healthy life so it is also something many people notice improvements in when they start to make healthy changes.

So if you are having trouble with your libido it might be time to have a good hard look at your lifestyle. As with all things health it really comes back to the three basic pillars, eating well, moving well and thinking well.

Moving sensually

Exercise can help improve your libido in a number of ways. It helps reduce the stress levels in your body, helping to normalise your hormone levels which obviously play a massive role in arousal and sexual pleasure. It also helps to improve your circulation and improved circulation (to the right areas) has been shown to increase arousal and hence desire. It also releases endorphins making you feel better and more energetic not to mention making you look more attractive to the opposite sex.

Eating sensually

What you eat can also have a big impact on your sex drive. Alcohol, coffee, refined sugars and junk food have all been shown unbalance your bodies hormones and to stimulate the stress response in your body. By cutting back on these foods and choosing healthy options like fruits and vegetables, healthy meats and water you will help your body find its natural hormone balance and hence libido. Also bear in mind that eating protein helps to stimulate the production of testosterone (an important sex hormone), so eating less carbs and more protein will also help.

Thinking sensually

As I have already stated the stress response has a huge impact on your libido. So look for ways to reduce or avoid the daily stressors that you do have and to add in some de-stressing daily activities. Walking, reading or even having sex, in fact whatever it is that helps you unwind will also help you unlock your potential in the bedroom.

Of course there are also artificial ways to try and improve your libido as well but as with all medications they have their own side effects so looking at your lifestyle rather than your medicine cabinet makes sense.

People are always telling me that eating, thinking and moving well can’t be fun, but this is just one of many examples that prove otherwise.
